Welcome to Krk Island
Krk, tied with Cres for the title of the largest island in the Adriatic, is also the most accessible: a graceful bridge connects it directly to the mainland, so no ferry is needed. Known since Roman times as the Golden Island, Krk packs beaches, medieval towns, vineyards and dramatic cliffs into one easy-to-explore destination.
The island's crown jewels are Krk town with its ancient walls and cathedral, the clifftop wine village of Vrbnik, and Baška, whose long crescent of beach beneath bare mountains is among the most famous in Croatia. Add olive groves, hidden coves and the sparkling Biserujka cave, and Krk earns its golden name.
Getting there is the easy part: our private door-to-door transfer from Zagreb to Krk Island (≈ 190 km, ≈ 2 hours) picks you up at your address and delivers you directly to your accommodation — and we drive to Krk Island from any address in Croatia or the EU.
Highlights
What to See in Krk Island
Krk Town
The island's 3,000-year-old capital, wrapped in Roman and medieval walls, with a Romanesque cathedral, Frankopan castle and a marina-front promenade made for evening strolls.
Baška Beach
Vela plaža, a nearly two-kilometre arc of pebbles beneath stark mountains at the island's southern end, is one of the Adriatic's most celebrated beaches.
Vrbnik
A village perched on a 50-metre cliff above the sea, famous for Žlahtina white wine and for one of the narrowest streets in the world.
Biserujka Cave
A compact, richly decorated limestone cave near Rudine, where stalactites and stalagmites glitter a few minutes' walk from the sea.
Punat & Košljun
From the yachting town of Punat, small boats cross to the islet of Košljun, home to a peaceful Franciscan monastery set in dense woodland.
Stara Baška
A rugged, cove-fringed corner of the island reached by a spectacular coastal road, with some of Krk's clearest water and wildest scenery.
